Tennessee Jump$tart is a non-profit organization comprised of approximately 50 individuals and organizations representing business, government and education who have joined together to improve the personal financial literacy of Tennessee’s youth.

Jump$tart will host FINANCE IN A MINUTE! during the 2023-2024 school year! The top three teams will receive awards and prizes! The top 10 teachers or sponsors will receive registration for the 2024 Tennessee Jump$tart Personal Finance Educators Conference to be held June 5-6, 2024 at The Park Vista in Gatlinburg, Tennessee!

Overview

The Tennessee Jump$tart Finance in a Minute Contest is designed to give Tennessee students in grades K-12 the opportunity to use their creativity to share their personal finance knowledge through art - whether it be a poem, song, artwork, or some other medium. Deliver a personal finance message creatively and become a star!

Guidelines:

  • Create a song, artwork, or poem about personal finance! 

  • Record the song or poem using your mobile device or other video recording system

  • Song performance or reading of poem must be 1 minute or less in length (150 words or less for poem)

  • Individual or team videos are allowed, though team size is limited to 5 students

  • Up to 2 entries per person allowed (you can appear in up to 2 videos)

  • Artwork can be submitted via photo or scan of photo

Submission Guidelines:

Prior to entry upload, the teacher/group sponsor must submit to http://bit.ly/FIAM2024 signed contestant release forms (one per student, (parent/guardian signatures are required) and registration form found on the last pages of this document.

Eligibility

The contest is open to Tennessee students in grades K-12

  • Eligible students may be enrolled in public, private, charter, or home school; or, involved in groups such as after-school programs, community groups, etc.

  • Only individuals appearing in the video or involved in the development and production of the video are eligible for awards

Submission Period

  • ·         November 27, 2023 - April 15, 2024 (by 5:00 p.m. CT)

Voting Period

  • ·         April 15, 2024 – April 22, 2024 (by 5:00 p.m. CT)

Notification and Finalists

  • ·         Finalists will be notified by April 30, 2024

Judging Considerations

  • Members of PFV Committee will act as judges for the competition

  • Each judge will complete the attached rubric.

Winners Will Receive

  • Top three teams will receive awards and prizes!

  • Top ten teachers/sponsors will receive Registration for the 2024 TN Jump$tart Personal Financial Education Conference in Gatlinburg Tennessee and be invited to share their entries at the Finance In A Minute exhibit booth.

Disqualification

Disqualification may occur if:

  • A submission is deemed to be lacking in content, utilizes profanity/other inappropriate language or images (verbal or non-verbal), and/or is submitted after the deadline

  • Other contest guidelines are not met

We are leaving the creativity up to the students, but they might consider some of the following strategies:
